Make Your Own Dog Collar
Why not make your own dog collar? It's not difficult, and can actually be fun. Here are a few reasons you might want to try your hand at making a collar of your own:
- use a special piece of fabric as a keepsake (a fabric collected on a trip or from a special piece of clothing)
- make a matching collar for a special occasion (wedding, family photo)
- make one as a gift for a dog-loving friend or family member
- recycle - use the hardware from an old collar, leftover fabrics, old jeans, etc..
Some considerations before you get started:
- What kind of design do you want? Something basic or flashy?
- Determine the supplies you'll need in addition to anything you already have
on hand. For example, can you re-use the buckle from an existing collar? Do you need any
additional hardware like d-rings or embellishments to complete your design?
- Do you want to make a collar from scratch or maybe just a
collar cover to dress up a sturdy and good fitting, but not-so-great-looking collar?
